Get Lancashire Working

Lancashire’s plan to boost jobs and cut economic inactivity toward 80% employment by 2035.

The Get Britain Working White Paper was published by government in November 2024.  The paper sets out a range of actions which will contribute to achieving a long-term ambition of an 80% employment rate by 2035.  The government asked Combined Authorities across the country to produce their own local Get Britain Working Plans, to contribute to this ambition.

Working in partnership with NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), DWP at a local level and a range of partners, the Get Lancashire Working Plan sets out how Lancashire will play its part in supporting the Government’s ambition.

Developed in collaboration with partners across work, health and skills, and the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise sector, it outlines a place-based response to economic inactivity, rooted in local strengths and driven by a shared ambition to do things differently. Alongside our Growth Plan and Local Transport Plan, it sets the right conditions for growth, productivity and opportunity across Lancashire.

This plan builds on the foundations already established through the work of the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, the ICB, local delivery partnerships, and Lancashire’s dedicated network of providers and employers. Together we aim to stem the flow of economic inactivity and close the gap in disadvantaged communities, to ensure that Lancashire residents can secure good, sustainable employment.

The plan sets out our ambitions and our asks of government in relation to further investment and shared approach to integrating provision and shifting the dial on economic inactivity.
